Extend Tax Deadline Without Filing A Form
Articles
You don’t need to panic about Tax Day.
Here’s something many taxpayers don’t realize: you can extend the deadline to file your individual income tax return to October 15 simply by making a tax payment on the IRS website.
Go to: https://www.irs.gov/payments
Select “Form 1040” and then choose “Extension” as the reason for payment.
No Form 4868. No post office lines.
Just make a payment on the IRS website for the amount you expect to owe (or even a partial amount if you’re unsure).
It’s one of the simplest ways to take the pressure off tax season — and most people don’t know it’s available.
Give yourself the time you need to file accurately and confidently.
